Blog Competition Winner: Ted Saad

At the end of last year, we asked the members of our EnlightenNext Evolutionaries Program to participate in the “Spirit Is Higher Week” Blog Competition to kick off our new social network & blogging site, the EnlightenNext Collaboratory. After viewing dozens of entries, from art pieces to essays, we declared Ted Saad (of Boston, MA) the winner. His blog post, “What Is So Significant About Evolutionary Enlightenment?”, we found best captured the passion, depth, and integral nature of a spiritually inspired evolutionary worldview. For the winning prize, Ted was awarded free attendance to the upcoming Being & Becoming Virtual Weekend Retreat (Feb. 19-20) and a guest post here on the Editors’ Blog with his winning essay. Conscious Evolution with Barbara Marx Hubbard

Is there a difference between conscious evolution and the evolution of consciousness? Barbara Marx Hubbard thinks so.

Marx Hubbard believes conscious evolution occurs when we “self actualize through participation in the whole.” This participation, she says, requires intention and can push us beyond the “self-centred consciousness” humans have lived in since the birth of our species.

On Being & Becoming: The Ecstasy of Emptiness

spacewalkIt’s been just over a week now since I returned to the States after participating in EnlightenNext’s first “Being and Becoming” retreat in Florence, Italy. And I’m still reeling from the experience in the best possible way. Andrew Cohen—who is both my spiritual teacher and my editor-in-chief—has been leading people into the mystical depths of enlightened consciousness since he began teaching twenty-three years ago, but never before has he been able to take so many people so far, so fast, with everyone moving forward consistently from one day to the next.
