A Celebration of Spiritual Masters
Many of us have had the good fortune to meet genuine spiritual masters and teachers as we’ve pursued the path to higher development—extraordinary men and women who have the ability to awaken us to the Absolute, revealing possibilities that were previously unimaginable and opening our eyes to eternity. On March 25th, 1986, EnlightenNext founder Andrew Cohen experienced a profound spiritual awakening through his close relationship with his teacher, the acclaimed master of Advaita Vedanta, H.W.L. Poonja, and shortly thereafter became a teacher himself.
Ever since that life-changing encounter, Cohen has been a bold advocate for the transformative power of the teacher-student relationship, exploring its continued relevance in a world that has, for often good reasons, decided to leave this particular spiritual tradition behind. In 1991, he started EnlightenNext magazine (originally known as What Is Enlightenment?) to provide a public forum for inquiry, debate, and dialogue about topics like this.
On Saturday, March 26th, Cohen will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of meeting his teacher by leading a full-day exploration into the significance of the Student-Teacher relationship with 25 religious and cultural luminaries from the major religious traditions. Entitled “Awakening to Your Highest Self,” the free online broadcast will feature intimate and deeply inspiring stories from these diverse spiritual leaders about the transformative power of their relationships with their own Gurus, Sheikhs, Rabbis, Fathers, Teachers, and Masters.
Click below to hear Andrew Cohen describe his vision for this March 26th webcast to some of his featured guests. (Or access audio directly here.)
The broadcast will feature some of the most important spiritual voices of our time speaking about some of the true spiritual greats of the 20th century. Jean Houston will speak about Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. Rabbi Michael Lerner will speak about Abraham Hoeschel. Rajesh Dalal will speak about J. Krishnamurti. The list goes on. . .
Each day between today and the broadcast on March 25th, we will be introduce one of Cohen’s guests–and their own teachers–by posting a video, audio, or article about or by them. Please stay tuned to the EnlightenNext Editors’ Blog for much, much, more!
