Where There Is No Other (Quote of the Week)

When two or more individuals who have awakened to what I call the Evolutionary Impulse, or Authentic Self, come together in deep dialogue and focused conversation, the experience is something akin to thinking aloud with yourself. Why? Because there is only one Authentic Self. The ego can only have a relationship with other separate individuals, but the Authentic Self can only have a relationship with itself. If you awaken to the Authentic Self and another also becomes illuminated by that same Self, you will find that you both experience a strong pull to be together, but what you are drawn to is not the other individual’s unique personality. The Authentic Self isn’t interested in other individuals. It is always only seeking itself in others. When people who have shared absolutely no personal history come together in this higher state of consciousness, they experience an ecstatic intimacy that infinitely transcends any kind of closeness or connectedness that can be experienced in a more familiar or personal context. Carried on the wings of the Authentic Self, our self-consciousness falls away, and an intoxicating sweetness envelops us. Here, where there is no other, we all awaken to a radiant transparency, fueled by egoless passion. Here, conflict and competition disappear. We are not separate individuals coming together; we are one Self experiencing sheer delight in being with itself.

  1. Janet Cunningham says:

Thank you for your, typically, profound reflection upon the nature of our being and of our relationships
I agree that the Authentic Self is constantly seeking to find the `other` – perhaps consciously not itself – and in a mediatation I managed to reach the depths of myself where I found that I was looking into a mirror (although it wasn`t a mirror!) and that It was God….only It was ME!
It was enough for me to discover this Truth and to leave that place for the world in which I have a purpose to achieve
    Blessings and love
    Janet

  2. Bonnie says:

Thank you for putting into words what my Authentic Self was trying to express, since I have had this exact experience happen with another soul who I have known for many years but due to some of life’s circumstances, have begun a dialogue through each other’s eyes, with no boundaries, no thought, just a pouring out of one’s Self to another. The days that follow our encounters, which are once a month, the lightness of being, the ectasy and sheer joy that emanates from within are absolutely the pinnacle of the human experience. Once you have transcended to this experience, there is no other way, it is Absolute Joy!!

  3. Aliya says:

My understanding is that when two enlightened beings come together there is no dialogue possible between them anymore. Dialogue is only possible whereas there are two. And how can there be two if even one is no more there?
The enlightened being is not a one, not a separate being anymore. The enlightened being has disappeared, has dissolved into the Infinite No – Thingness, into the Ultimate Silence or as the East calls it Shunyata.
Therefore, two enlightened beings can meet only in silence. And the silence which arises between them is not the silence we know; it is the divine silence full of every potentiality, pregnant with the eternal love and compassion.
When a being is awaken to the ultimate reality, no more relationships are possible for such a being. A relationship means something stagnant, something aimed to be determined. An enlightened being determines and structures nothing, because an enlightened being is a flow, which flows with the river of life, changing every moment, utterly spontaneous and always unpredictable. Enlightened being never encloses itself in stagnant society approved relationships. An enlightened being simply relates to others, and his relating is free and out of compassion. Such a relating is always afresh and new, each moment per moment.
As far as “The Authentic Self isn’t interested in other individuals. It is always only seeking itself in others” – “Authentic Self ” or better call it the Absolute Truth is never seeking anything. What is the need for the Absolute to seek whatever?
And as far as “the experience an ecstatic intimacy”, it is the most ever intimate experience between you and the Divine Truth and can never happen when and because ” people who have shared absolutely no personal history come together in this higher state of consciousness”

  4. Michael Kim says:

    Hi Aliya,

In that case, I suggest you be silent.

    Michael

    • Caroline Hitch says:

That was cool! I second the motion.

    • Aliya says:

      Dear Michael and Caroline,

Thank you for your sincere reactions to my words. For me your reaction is very significant – it shows a deep moving within you provoked by my words. It is very good sign for your inner growth that my words cannot leave you indifferent. You have to remember that your reactions to other people’s words always show something about you, never about the other person.
In this particular case your mind and all its preconceived ideas and past conditioning have been shattered, because my words go deeper – directly to your being, the sleeping Master of yours. And the mind is very much afraid when the being has been awakening, because for the mind it means to loose its dominance and grip over you for lives after lives.

      • Michael Kim says:

        Hi Aliya,

        What happened to your silence?

You keep contradicting your self, and your failing to see it.

Some confusion is normal when you first attempt to understand the concept of non-duality, but if you don’t see through the traps your setting up for yourself you’ll stay there forever; confused.

Why would there be silence when two beings who recognize there is only one meets? If silence is all that can happen, that is an expression of insecurity! it says:
“I need to prove that we are one so I cannot engage with this person because that would disprove it”
this line of thinking is grossly immature. This is hilarious because whether they speak together or not, the fact that there is only one IS NOT AFFECTED, and neither is the fact that they are appearing as TWO; life keeps going. From a perspective of someone who knows this, these two would appear like silly baboons.

If two that understood there is only one came together they would speak in amazement of the fact that despite there being only one that they are able to engage as two! “This is amazing!”

Don’t you understand? It’s the greatest gift!

You need to develop a depth of understanding that recognizes the absolute and embraces the relative through that recognition.

Otherwise, don’t engage relatively, which means two-ness. Which means don’t do anything, including writing replies on this blog, any other blog, or talking to anyone. Don’t move a muscle, not even your eyes or lungs. Don’t even think about it. Because all doing is relative. I suggest you leave those who participate in life and go find a cave somewhere to do nothing in, to PRETEND existence isn’t happening. <- that is the line of thought your expressing; in which even expressing it your contradicting it-do you understand? is that the way you believe people should live?

        Michael

      • Michael Kim says:

        Hi Aliya,

        Why are you playing games?

Is that how a person claiming to be a reflection of truth lives?

        You know what I meant.

However, what you have yet to understand of what I’ve been pointing out to you, is the nonsensical nature of’ making a statement that denounces making a statement.

        Michael

        • Aliya says:

          Dear Michael,

Please note that your words as above are your own understanding and have nothing to do with my comments in here. When someone is not intelligent enough to oppose somebody else’s sayings in a honest discussion, an often practice is to distort the words of your opposing party and to attack your own distortion of other’s words. That is what a real games playing is.
As for me, I am not concerned at all about your reactions to my words. They are your own and you are responsible for them. On my side it is a pure sharing of my being, of my experiencing. I am the one who communicates what I have been experiencing. What you will do with the communicated, whether you will use it or not for your inner growth is your own responsibility.

          • Michael Kim says:

            Aliya,

Will you ever address the issues I’m bringing up directly? You’ve yet to directly rebuttal any the my responses I’ve made to your comments so far. You always side step them with some version of “nobody can say anything about me or what I say. What they say only applies to them self.” The reason you do this is because you don’t have a good answer. Why do you think that is? You have to come to terms with this.

If you just say “that is your own truth and has zero relevance whatsoever to me” “it does not reflect anything about me” and never face it, you will never grow.

It’s an extremely dangerous position to take, to say “Everything a person says is only a reflection of them, not of what or who they are talking about” that would mean that nothing is connected in any way what so ever. That type of thinking is exactly what the ego wants- to only see and acknowledge the reflection of it self that is favorable to it’s concept of it self. Your abusing concepts that arise from one side of reality (the absolute) while conveniently forgetting the other (the relative) even while your engaging in the relative.

Try and answer my challenges, Aliya. And if your wrong, just conceit to it. Otherwise you will be just living in denial. Don’t be a fool!

            • Aliya says:

              Dear Michael,

I would rather suggest that you answer your own challenges. Because they are your own mental creation and in no way connect neither to me nor to reality. What you give in here as your responses are in fact your mind reactions to some illusory interpretations and projections of yours which have nothing to do with my sayings so far. And to let yourself be deceived by your mind junk is really “an extremely dangerous position to take”, but dangerous for yourself. And it does not refer only to your reactions to my words, it refers also to your reactions to life. Because when you refuse to see reality as it is, clear cut, without the veil of the mind misinterpretations, projections, conditionning, then you are like a blind man walking in an inpredictable surrounding. It is for such a man “that nothing is connected in any way what so ever”, because he has imprisones himself in his own web of mind illusions and has cut himself off reality.
People can really get connected to each other only when they transcend their constant mind projecting over other people, only when they remain in utter alertness and awareness, totally rooted in the present moment (note: the real present moment, not in their minds!). That is the meaning of one’s life – to get centered in oneself, connected to one’s innermost core being, whereas the real wisdom is and all questions and answers are already known, or better say it they are no more. Because who else can be made responsible to give answers to your own questions if not you?

              • Michael Kim says:

                Aliya,

Are you really that blind to the fact that your creating total separation? Extreme duality?

Your statement completely defeats itself. And defeats any purpose for two to interact together what so ever. Again this goes back to what I’m attempting to reveal to you – your approach completely defeats any purpose of living.

I’ll attempt again- the reason what your saying is so silly is because by writing or communicating anything, your completely contradicting it!

                Unbelievable.

Try and wrap your head around it. It’s subtle but its quite simple. Perhaps too simple.

Saying don’t use your brain IS using your brain.

                Don’t live as an idiot.

                Michael Kim

  5. Bonnie says:

It’s unanimous!! Can you imagine keeping something so wonderful and awesome silent and nothing saying ANYTHING? This is the human experience after all, we are here to share and spread the joy.

    • Aliya says:

“To share and spread the joy” one can of course, by using the language, but then the expression is very superficial and partial. Because language as a man mind tool created for social convenience is very limited and insufficient to express what is infinite and unlimited – and our joy and bliss are eternal, they are our deepest nature of being. That is what we are – bliss, love and truth in a deep eternal silence, our very home. An enlightened being is the one who has arrived back home to his roots of being. There words are neither needed, not possible; chattering mind cannot reach there, to the center of the Being, whereas is the center of all Existence, too.
But for the mind to keep “silent and nothing saying ANYTHING” seems impossible, the mind is very much afraid of silence, because once you are silent, utterly silent, mind stops, it is no more. Silence means No – Mind, the state of Pure Consciousness, the state of all Buddhas.

      • Dearest Aliya,

it is very true what you have shared about the common human language.
Maybe you would like to discover the language of your soul that is unique but universal. Soul Language is the purest form of communication between you and your soul and the entire soulworld. The mind is not involved in the Soul Language.
Every Soul has a Soul Language and there is a wonderful and easy way to bring out your Soul Language by chanting one specific mantra.

  8. in the Craft – especially as taught by people like Doreen Valiente or Starhawk – there are only two perspectives: that of the unique, individual self, and the collective whole, i.e. the one and the many, or the one and the other

I think in this case the “Authentic Self” is another label for the whole, the collective consciousness; this idea, then, is good but hardly new

    Blessed Be

    • Aliya says:

Yet another attempt to label the infinite and the eternal:)
Authentic Self or God or Tao or just IT, is not and cannot be collective consciousness, only. It is infinitely much more. The same way as painting is not consisted of canvas and colors, only. A painting has something more and this more is called beauty.
Collective consciousness is part of human mind. So is collective unconsciousness.
As far as the Divine reality is, it is beyond time and space, beyond human mind, beyond matter which develop in time and space.
Divine Reality or call it Authentic self or God or Organic Unity is what we already know, the KNOWN, what we do not know, the UNKNOWN, and what we will never know, the UNKNOWABLE.

  9. Aliya says:

    Dear Michael,
I once again suggest to you that you first settle it up with you. There must be much unsettled feelings in you which blind your inner sight and do not allow you to conceive reality. Apparently these unsettled feelings within yourself have created much frustrations on you. In this case you will need first to unburden yourself before you approach other people. There are extremely powerful cathartic meditations of Osho which might be of significant help for you to make it first with yourself. There is no need for you to jump on people visiting this blog and abusing them with uggly names. When you feel sick, you do not throw it up to the other people, do you? You enclose yourself into your bathroom and go throwing it up there alone.

  10. Michael Kim says:

But Aliya, according to what you’ve been saying, absolutely nothing your saying applies to me, and is only a reflection of yourself. In accordance with that, it would mean that you should meditate some and go to the bathroom alone to start vomiting.

Ironically I think this is true in your case – because you refuse to reason – you display no objectivity and as a result the majority of the statements your making lack relevance to what I am presenting to you. That’s called being crazy – and is a easy trap to fall into when your dealing with understanding what a non-dual relationship to life looks like.

    Peace be with you,

    Michael

    • Aliya says:

      Dear Michael,

Before you wish peace for others you should be peaceful yourself. And you are not at all, vice versa, you are full of aggression and frustration, which you project over other people by calling them uggly names – and “that’s called being crazy”, to not be at ease with yourself and to project this not easiness with your own self over other people.
Without being rooted in your heart and inner being mind can easily go berserk.

  11. Heather Gee says:

    Dear Aliya

Thank you Andrew, I am new to this site.
I support and admire what you have said in response to the goading by Michael.
