No Going Back (Quote of the Week)

reachWhen we experience a profound awakening to the evolutionary impulse, we can never really go back to the way things were before we tasted its magnetic and ecstatic promise. We can’t go back to the unenlightened values and convictions of the personal self, nor can we continue to be spiritually inhibited by the powerful materialist convictions of modernity or the persuasive relativistic assertions of postmodernity. That’s because now we see and feel the pull of the possible and it will not let us rest. Because of what is becoming visible on the horizon of our inner vision, we are captivated by the immediacy of the potential within our reach.

  1. Frank Luke says:

When becoming spiritually Awakened, this means you embrace and are embraced by the commitment to thenceforth lead a life adhering to the tenets set forth in the Perennial Wisdom, including the Golden Rule. It may be a life-changing experience, perhaps dramatic and sudden or simply a firmer understanding. Once Awakened, individuals are loathe to behave counter to their spiritual principles, there is only going on. If a situation arises which prompts deliberation and hesitation, to do the right thing
is succeeding in passing a test of your spiritual resolve. The more difficult the issue, the further your advancement.

Best regards in your spiritual progress!

    Aloha,

This is a really great insight and important to remember during time of change. Many people are afraid of change when they see it occurring and do everything they can to stop the momentum. Having had the unfortunate experience of being sidelined by uninformed and or individuals ignoring the process of positive change, I know full well how impossible it is to return to an earlier state of being.

Hi Andrew I remember purchasing Enlightenment Next magazine when I was with the spiritual teacher Barry Long, and now coming back to it many, many years later it sure has evolved. Having been with Barry and what you have posted about ‘No Going Back’ rings very true for where i’ve pitched my tent at the moment. I’m now with another spiritual teacher and just the other day we got into a discussion about yourself and I said to him the first thing i’m going to do when I become enlightened is write an article for this magazine. And he replied with those 100% i’m foucusing on you eyes, you guys seem to have and said ‘when you become enlightened you may not’.

  4. The analogy my teacher uses:

The rubber band stretches…then it contracts a bit but never back to the original shape it was. This new perception is a new normal…until it expands again.
